Has anyone had this surgery that has atrial fibrilation?

I have atrial fibrilation where my heart has arrythmias. I have been told by a doctor that the surgery may correct this. I am a bit scared about this. Has anyone had the surgery that had a fib at the time of surgery? How did it turn out? Did it cure it?
