Drinking beer or mixed drinks?

I am not a big drinker, well hardly at all. But once a year I go out of town to a big meeting with my company. And everyone drinks allot. I usually have maybe 1 or 2 drinks the entire time. But this time I am not sure what to do, I had surgery on Jan. 10th of this year...the meeting will be late March or April. Can I drink anything? I am thinking I will just cary something around so that people don't ask me or try to order drinks for me.
