When I drink water it causes a feeling of discomfort similar to hunger pains,

What causes this? I occassionally drink Crystal Lite and Decaf Orange Spice Instant Tea(sugar free) and they seem to give me less of that discomfort. Only warm drinks give me no problems. Does this diminish as time goes on, I had surgery July 12, 2001.
