Why am I so hungry around my period?

I am 4 months post op and down 76 lbs...Ever since surgery three days before my period I feel like I can eat non stop. I really can eat more on those days than at other times,I just eat healthy foods,but since our stomaches are so small,why is it that I can eat so much on those days? and normally I can't. Would'nt it not make a difference?
