What happens if you binge?

I'm an emotional eater; when I'm angry, depressed, anxious, etc. I sometimes eat until I've made myself so sick that I have to vomit because I'm so full. I know that a binge is a response to stress. Has anyone who's had surgery binged? What heppens? Do you immediately get sick? Thanks for the help.
