I am just disgusted, health insurance as a post op

I was in the final phases of getting insurance quotes and as I am resigning from my job where I carry the family medical benefits. I am being told Medical Mutual will not offer me a policy as a prev gastric bypass patient, Anthem will when I am 3 years post op ( I am 1.5 now) and Aetna who has state ordered open enrollment this month will cover me for 1500 a month for ONLY ME after a 90 waiting period. That is for just me. The kicker is Medical Mutual paid all but 100 dollars of my surgery but will not offer coverage on indiviual policies. All of the copanies HAD been quoting me aprox 400-500 dollars PRIOR to knowing about my surgical history. I ahve had no complications I am 30 years old and in perfect health as are my husband and 2 step children. Did anyone know how difficult it would be to obtain our own personal policies if we were not under group coverage? Any ideas of more affordable wasys to go or companies that allow post ops? I am devastated to think I will have to stay in my current job rather than go work for my self employed husband. :( Lisa
