Can we take antiinflamatory meds?

I'm having problems with my left shoulder. I went to my PCP and she is sending me for exrays on thursday. I was wondering if there are any anti-inflamatory (sp) meds out there that we can take on a short term basis? I will certainly call my surgeon and ask him, but I cannot get in touch with him until thursday morning. I just wanted to know if anyone knows if it's possible to take them, or will I have to suffer through. Thanks again. LapRNY 5/15/03
