PLASTIC SURGERY - ALLERGIC TO PERCOCET....WHAT DID YOU USE FOR PAIN RELIEF??

I'm curious as to see what pain medicine others have used. I had percocet for my first surgery but after 3 weeks, had a severe allergic reaction. I was then prescribed demerol for my second surgery, but after doing alot of research, I decided to test it this weekend to see if I have any nasty side effects I have been reading about. I was sick as a dog, dry heaving and a bad headache. So my question is, what else can I take???? Vicodin was suggested by my PCP but my research says its in the same clas as Percocet and if I had an allergic reaction to percocet, I'll have one with vicodin. HELP!!!
