Has anyone ever been operated on while they had a chronic sinus infection?

I was just diagnosed with a severely deviated septum and chronic sinus infection on Friday. My open rny date is on 10.20. My primary care said there is a chance they won't operate while I have this Chronic Sinusitis. Has anyone else had the surgery while having this condition? I am going to a specialist this week but am curious. Thank you! Maria
