I had one Depo shot December 1 of 03, will it slow down my weight loss?

I took one shot of depo provera and I gained 15 pounds in one month. No, it was not Christmas eating as I gained it in January, which makes since as it takes a month for it to spread through the system and be effective. Have any of you out there taken this form of birthcontrol and had successful weight loss after surgery or had problems loosing? My surgery is May 14 and I am freaking out. I've had my period now non-stop since the end of Feb. I did NOT get another shot! Help!!!! I am so mad at my doctor for not warning me. Now I feel she set me back a month in my weight loss goals.
