what would u do?

hi..i had a dilemma and just wanted to get some opinions on what other ppl think is best to do..theres one DR i can use who will be able to do the surgery in about a month but he only does open RNY and he doesnt transect..he also doesnt require any pre weight loss or require quitting smoking..the other DR's waitin list is about 3-4 months.he will do lap RNY not sure if he transects..he does require weight loss and no smoking before surgery..i dont mind an open RNY the scar doesnt bother me..but i have heard that its silly to even get the surgery without transection now..opinions?
