Sharon, Just wanted to say that I hope you are doing better. I, to have problems with the way things taste. I have a hard time getting my fluids down and have just about drove myself crazy with it. I hate crystal light ......it is way too sweet. I can not stand the after taste of artificial sweetners, however, that was never a problem before surgery. The only thing I drink is water with a sugar free peppermint dissolved in it. As for me, I can not go back to work when the other teacher do, which is this Friday (Aug 9th). The doc said probably another 2 weeks. I do back to him on Aug. 8th and then to the stomach doc on Aug. 12. The stomach doc is going to rescope me to see what is going on with the ulcer. I am still hurting from time to time and exper. waves on being so nauseated that I could just die. However, the nausea is not as bad as before. I only pray that I have done the right thing. So, hows the eating going? I am only having trouble with chicken, potatoes, and grits. The texture of the chick and grits is too much for me and as far as the taters .......... well, I think that is a mental thing ........ because that was the first real food I ate and if my memory serves me right ........... well, lets just say it was not pleasant. Just wanted to let you know that I have been thinking about you. Please e mail me your phone number ........ somehow I have lost it and would really love to call you. Take care My love and Prayers, Theresa

Dear Sharon you are in my prayers for a speedy recovery. I also pray that you will find something that taste better. Have you tried some rasberry tea or Red Zinger tea? They are herbal and taste good even without sweetener. How about some diluted fruit juice ice pops. Try brushing your toungh. Sometimes the medicines cling to the coating and add to your bad taste. Good Luck

Just a quick update. I am feeling better, but still moving slowly. Am finding it difficult to find things to eat. What do you do when even water tastes bad? I've tried everything, bottled water, crystal light- everything tastes bad. I'm drinking very little water because of that, which I know is not good.

Just a quick update. I am SO glad to be home. The second surgery slowed down my recovery a little. I had no idea that "open" meant "open" ~ Is there anyone out there that knows why they actually leave that incision open? ~ I am feeling better and stronger everyday. Am still having a problem with nausea, which they are treating with drugs. It's really hard for me to try to get my water down. I don't even know how much weight I've lost but I think it's almost 30 pounds. I've been wearing bicycle shorts most of the time, but last night I put on a pair of my jeans and my DH wanted to take a picture of me from behind because they were bagging so much! LOL Hope that this finds everyone else doing GREAT.

Sharon - What great news to hear that you've made it home! I know it must be a tremendous relief to be past the worst hurdle. Now you can concentrate on following all of your surgeon’s directions! May God just pour out His blessings on you and help you heal quickly! I look forward to seeing your progress reports in the future!
