Hi all I'm an oldie, I had my Rny 08/2004. I used to come to this website everyday, then it was every week, once a month and finally about twice a year.
I had great success with the surgery but over the course of the last three years I have regained quite a bit of weight.  I just recently decided that enough was enough and started exercising and eating better, I have dropped about 7 lbs. so far but need to lose about 63.

Pre-surgery 286 lbs
Post-surgery 155 but I felt great at 170
Highest weight since surgery 245
Current weight 238

I have considered a revision but I want to put forth an earnest effort at exercise and going back to pouch eating basics.

Coming back here for information I feel is an important step, glad I found this forum.

Hey Saundra,
Welcome home . I just recently came back here myself.
If you don't already journal your food intake, there are several great free sites out there. At the top of the screen here on OH if you click on TOOLS there is an nutrition tracker there. Another site that was recently posted by another member is MyFitnessPal.com and I am LOVING it. If you have a phone with the bar-code scanner app you don't have to sit entering info. for hours (at least it always feels like hrs. to me ).

Thank you so much patriotmom, I think that I can down load that app.  I used to use the daily plate at Livestrong.com but I haven't been there in quite a while either. Thanks to your suggestion I will start back journaling there tomorrow.  I knew that it would do me good to come back home.

Hi Saundra:

It seems that we all leave OH to go and live our lives and then come back when we have enjoyed a little too much.  I know I did.  I came back to OH a little over 8 months ago to see what the newbies were doing to lose weight.  I had gain 70 lbs. back and I needed to take it off.  I have since lose 66 lbs. of that regain and you can too.  Go back to basics, no drinking with your meals or 30 minutes afterwards, push your protein up to at least 70 better at 90 grams a day.  Keep your carbs below 100 grams and find some kind of exercise that you like and just move.  Don't forget to drink your fluids and take your vitamins if you have gotten off them.  And, last but not least, journal everyday, anything that go in your mouth goes in your journal.  I started my calories at 800 just like a newbie and worked my way up to about 1000-1100.  Come back to OH and back on track together everyday and just check in or say hi.

Thank you so much Tess145, your message is just what I needed. It is so good to know that it can be done.  I will use this site again because it most certainly helped me in the beginning!

Hi Saundra,

Welcome home!!!  I've been away for away also, but we always know where to return for that push, and a little motivation along the way.  I had my surgery January 2007 and have had a regain in weight.

Doing my darnest to get Back On Track and drop these pounds...I thought I was cute when I was thinner!    I also use My Fitness Pal for logging my meals and exercise along with my BodyBug is a big help to let me know what I need to do in cardio.

Look forward to seeing you here on the board and again...Welcome Home.

Hi welcome. I was a december 2006 RNYer and I was satisfied with my success. Unfortunately, I took a turn when I quit smoking 8 months ago. It was a easy and fast, dreadful 60 lbs. So I am here with you starting with my basics. I wish us all well.

Thanks so much for responding.  I am starting my exercise today, I have a zumba class and am super excited.  I started journaling again on yesterday.  I have got to force myself to start taking my vitamins and drinking protein shakes again, I stopped doing that years ago.  Really glad that I found this group.

I am 9yrs out and I too have come back after being gone from OH.  I have gained @ 70 pounds and now am working my way back.  This is my third week of getting back on track.  My advise in addition to the already wonderful information above, is to get a BOTT buddy.  Don't beat yourself up over the gain.  And give yourself a big for realizing it's time to get moving!

Welcome back.
