Hey all! I’m fairly new to this group but have been lurking and you all seem so great. I am really struggling. I’m a little over 2 years out and have started gaining. I started a very stressful job a year ago and find that I want to eat constantly at work. I work nights as well, which does not help. I have also had a new medication added that is known to cause weight gain. I had gotten down to 160 but, am now up to 193. I’m in a panic. I read on here how you all eat but, there is such a great difference that I don’t even know where to begin. Heck! Some of the stuff you all eat, I’ve never even heard of!! LOL I have got to get control of this situation and would appreciate any advice or ideas that you have to offer. Take care, Cynda

Hi Cynda,
Welcome to BOTT!  Take a deep breath, it's not too late.   Stress and meds can definately mess with your weight.  Think about what you're eating or craving and try to make some slight changes.  The first thing to do is pack a lunch.  Also, over the weekend, try to make different snack packages, like cut up fresh veggies, make ham and cheese rolls.  Bring this "snack pack" with you on Monday and keep it at work to snack on during the week.  Pack up some flavored hot tea, that seems to take the edge off of stressful days.  Start to plan out your meals for the day.  Keep track of what you're eating.  Exercise helps with stress, start slowly.
You can do this!!!

Hi there Cynda!

You are catching it early- that's awesome, you are only 30 pounds up.  I have been able to lose that much since mid-dec.  I wish I had caught it that early, I'm about 50# up after the 30# loss.

Just go back to basics & stop the snacking at work.  You'll be able to get it off.

Thank you guys so much. I love the suggestion of the snack pack for work. I am going to do that. Then, I can just bring my dinner each night. Brilliant. Thank you!

Just so you know you are not alone.  I find that writing my food down helps.  I had face surgery in January and it set me back again.  I also don't know what we should eat long term.  I personally have never been able to eat as little as most others but I don't HAVE to ever eat junk food.  I just try to stay away from it as much as possible and I do lose weight.  The thing to remember is that it is a marathon not a sprint.  Little changes help over the long run.  I find that participating in this group helps motivate me.  Good luck to you and keep in touch.

Welcome Cynda!!!  I agree with the other posters and would like to add that I too can not eat as little as some do but I had gained 80 pounds back and since March of last year I have re-lost 40 of those pounds so I only have 40 more to go.  So be encouraged that you only have 30.  It has not been easy but I have gotten on my mojo regarding this matter.

You can do it!  Another thing I find really helpful for me is MyFitnessPal.com.   I post my food and exercise there and I get support. Deb's advise about packing healthy snacks has helped me also to get back on track.  Did you print down the BOTT get started pack that Kathy and them posted.  If not it is found at the beginning of the discussion boards.  I found that packet to be right on time.

Lastly  I started going back to support group meetings and I do the telephone support group meetings held twice a month also.   Hopes this helps!  And remember be Positive, Persevere by not giving up when things get tough because it will not be easy, and be Patient with yourself and allow yourself to be imperfect.
