Getting re-focused

Hi everyone, I am looking for some insight. I had surgery 12/07 made it to my goal weight in about 14 months and was doing a great job of maintaining till recently. I have gained about 25 pounds in the last 7 months or so. I know I need to get back to exercising regularly and eating better. I am curious if anyone has done the 5 day pouch test to get back on track...does it work, is it a gimmick to sell a book. How did others who have regained gotten back on track?? I know I have to start by backing off the carbs, but after that I am kinda lost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's not a book gimmic as everything regarding the 5 day is on their website.  I don't like the 5 day cause it's just another fad diet it's just geared for WLS and well I vowed never to go on another "diet" after surgery.

If you know what you've NOT done in the last 7 months start there.  If there are foods that you have allowed BACK into your house and into your stomach start by REMOVING them.  If you are a food tracker but stopped then start again.

Don't be lost it's just like riding a bike, so just get on it.  Protein first, veggies next, stay away from processed carbs, drink your water, take your vitamins and MOVE MOVE MOVE.

I did the 5DPT a few times and it helped me to refocus and de-carb when my carbs were getting out of control.   Put things in perspective for me.
last few times - it was very hard to do the first 2 days of liquids only - so I adapted the program for me and did a semi liquid diet - 5 days - first 3 days having shakes during the day and then veggies + meat (or other proteins) dinner.  Then the last 2 days ( of the 5) i added a salad in the middle of the day.  That way - I got back on plan - back to basics and was able to refocus my attention to good foods.

Hi Melissa,
The 5 DPT is actually a wonderful way to get back in control and get rid of carb cravings. I did it myself about 2 months ago and it worked brilliantly for me. Besides losing 5 lbs, it just jump started my desire to get back on track and it made me go back to the basics.
Eat my protein first, no liquids half an hour before or after my meals, very low carb intake, no sugars in my case (hypoglicemic) and lots of water.
These are the things that I start forgetting when I´m back on track and doing the 5 DPT or a modified version of it, help me realize what I´m doing wrong and show me how beneficial it is when I do things right.
Good luck, use that tool!

Welcome Melissa!! Did you print of or read the information that BOTT has provided right here.  It is very helpful and showing you where to start and how to get back to basics.  Click on thread entitled "Back On Track Together Guidelines and Information"  I never did the 5 day pouch either and I have lost 20 of the 80 pounds I gained back.  I had initially lost 300 pounds and gained back 80 and I never reached my goal weight.  I started posting back here in March and I have lost 20 pounds.  I started going back to support groups in person, on line and here is a support group also.

I keep my food and exercise diary on myfitnesspal.com and it is a wonderful site also.  I post and check my groups and forums here on OH.com once or twice a week.  Be happy you only have 25 pounds to lose again.  You can do it!! I have 3 P's that have has served me well these last 4 months.  Perseverance, Patience, and positive.  Again you can do it and BOTT info will tell you how to start.  I exercise 5 to 6 days a week now and I count my calories.  I am here if you need anything or have any questions.  Today you started your journey off right by posting here!  YAY for you!!
