Topic: Help ...
Hi .. I need help.. Finally in August I will have Medicare.. I saw the post before from OH that there are NO doctors excepting it... Anyone have suggestions what to do next? I was going to try Dr. Stickler again but I guess he is not taking the insurance. I feel like everywhere I turn I get the door slammed in my face.. I am heart broken once again.

The closest meetings that I have found are at the Winchester Hospital. Good luck on your upcoming surgery!!!
Topic: RE: PEIA Should Pay for the Lap-Band
PEIA does need to change their practices. Been there....written letters...called, called, even talked to my local delegates and even written a couple congressmen/women. Does NOT do any good. I had to have the RNY...wanted the lapband. But, at the time of my procedure, they had one person at PEIA (VEDA). SHe made all the calls on approvals/denials. Unsure if she is still there....but I was denied 4 times. Finally was approved after diabetes set in and a couple other problems. But, PEIA does need to change their practices...that's for sure.
Topic: RE: Desparately Seeking Bariatric Surgeon
Hi, I'm in nearby Hampshire County--near Romney:
Have you tried Winchester Medical Center? They currently have a great bariatric program; however, I don't know if they accept WV Medicaid. Dr. Glembot is one of the surgeon's names. I had my surgery done in Morgantown, WV; however, since last month or so, they do not have the bariatric program due to the fact they have no surgeons. I wanted to go to Winchester before, but they had no program at the time. I went to Fairfax Inova Fair Oaks Hospital and they had a great program. But, my insurance denied anyone outside the state of West Virginia. My heart goes out to you for the health problems you have and the state you are in. First and foremost, for the time being, try to implement some small changes in your diet. No sodas, sweet, sugary drinks or heavy starches.... I drink the Walmart brand of crystal light (different flavors)--constantly. Move your arms watching some country music videos--no leg work required. But, just starting some small steps will help some. Don't give up....that's the main key as well. Keep fighting until you find someone to take your case and ultimately do the surgery, if that's what you want. God bless and I'm thinking about you. Keep me posted...

Topic: RE: Morgantown?
Bariatric program is suspended pending the hiring of surgeons. My doctor, Stephen McNatt and his partner, James Longi have resigned and moved away. So, there are no doctors in Morgantown at Ruby Memorial doing bariatric. I received a letter about 10 days ago explaining this and giving me a letter to take to my primary care physician. If you have to go to a West Virginia hospital, I don't know where you would go. But, Winchester, Va, there is a bariatric program (near me). I had to use Morgantown because my insurance insisted. So, yeah...I'd not hope on Morgantown for now.
