30lbs down is great! This is not a race, it isn't how fast you lose it is that you lose. Take a look at my ticker. 10lbs a month sounds bang on to me for 3 months post op. You will lose at the rate your body will let you.

Liquids are hugely important to weight loss. I don't work out and I get in 100oz of water a day and 100oz of protein a day as well. You want to lose imo those are more critcal than exercise.

At 3 months I was averaging about 550-600 calories with protein 55-60 most days. I was walking for exercise. You probably know that body muscle is heavier than fat so that is likely the main reason for a bit of a slowdown in your weight loss. After the first 3 months I lost less than 10 pounds a month (stats in my signature).

make sure you get your fluid and protein in. that's your job. exercise at this point is good but not your job!!

I don't have any answers for you. You are exercising a lot so that may have an effect on your weight loss. You say you are dropping body fat and increasing muscle so you are seeing changes. I know we like to see the numbers of the scale going down.

Have you spoken with the surgeon?

Protein, protein, protein.....try to get at least 100 grams a day and work on getting in more water. Sip, sip, sip.

Don't get discouraged. Did you ever lose 30 lbs. in a month on a 'diet.' :)

Good luck!!

I'm so ready for Friday at 4:30. This weekend I'm starting packing for the move in my sewing room. I want the movers to take most everything. Usually we wind up taking the small stuff in the car or rent a small truck. DH has no business moving things. It will be hot and it will worth it pay the movers a little more.

Roz, hope your DH can get some relief from pain. My DH saw his PCP this week and he wants him to see an orthopedic doctor about his wrist.

Eats today:

Greek yogurt (15 grams)

Quest breakfast bar (12 grams)

Taco Pie (recipe from theworldaccordingtoeggface.com) (13 grams); chopped salad

1 Laughing Cow (2 grams); 34 degree crackers (2 grams)

Tilapia; cottage cheese

Premier Clear Protein (20 grams)

Topic: 3 months out, 30 pounds down, feeling like a failure

I keep looking at the calendar, looking at my current weight, and trying to make sense of all of this.

My "smart" scale is showing a continuing drop in body fat, and an increase in muscle mass (I am pushing my activity pretty hard).

Measurements are meh... some big drops initially then, like the weight loss, next to nothing.

I'm measuring and recording everything I eat and drink, the good bad and ugly. My weekly intake averages have been at a steady 700 calories a day. I do struggle to get in enough liquids, and I'm often a little low on protein.

I'm four weeks into a 5K training program and "running" three times a week, about a mile and a half at a VERY SLOW PACE of like 17.5 minute miles. Yes, that would be slower than most people WALK a mile. I'm trying to get a minimum of 10K steps a day (this week was bad as I've been sick). I've installed an elliptical machine under my desk at work and I've been doing ten minute batches of work on it every hour or so. Sometimes 20 minutes at a go. My thighs are soar after a few minutes of the elliptical so I'm assuming it's working (and my pulse does go up some while I'm doing it).

Please give me some advice on how I can kick things into gear! I want to lose at LEAST ten to fifteen pounds a month over the next three months.

Thanks!

WARNING TO SELF AND TO ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN!!! AVOID 'BAD' CARBS AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE ADDICTING!! THEY WILL SLOW DOWN YOUR WEIGHT LOSS DURING THE LOSING STAGE (and you won't even notice)!! THEY WILL MAKE THE SCALE GO UP AFTER THE HONEYMOON PERIOD IS OVER.

Success in Maintenance starts with GOOD CHOICES during the Honeymoon Period.

I feel I need to repeat this: I am a FIRM believer in Good Whey Protein Drinks!!!!! It is sooooo much harder to do Maintenance without them!

Morning LW's!!! I soooo wi**** was Friday! DH had a productive visit with the Pain Specialist. He really liked him because he took the time (over an hour) to explain things and talked about some solutions to ease his pain. Years of playing hard, tears and broken bones has caused his body lots of scare tissue and nerve problems. This Dr. was not happy with the Surgeon we had in Feb. that operated on DH's neck. Our next trip is with another Neurosurgeon.

Glad your hubby doesn't have anything broken but sometimes that's more painful and takes longer to heal than a break would. My DH's appointment went good. Not good results but he was pleased that someone finally took the time to to explain everything to him. He has a lot of nerve damage and a life of pain ahead of him but the surgeon that operated on him made him feel like he was going to have a full recovery and wasn't taking his pain seriously. They did give him an injection in the worse spot and sending him to different Neurologist. I sense a another major surgery in our near future.
