Hernia Surgery Update XPost
I came home this afternoon and in hindsight it probably wasn't my best idea. I had such an easy time of it last time I had this hernia repaired that I thought it would be a cakewalk. Not. I woke up in tremendous pain. Like I wanted to die pain. Last time I had an epidural. I didn't think it had helped much because it had fallen out so I didn't think I needed one this time. I am still glad I didn't get one but it did make a big difference, apparently.
It took several shots of Diludid to even touch the pain. But I really wanted to go home and I figured I could be in pain at home as much as I was in pain in the hospital.
I still am not able to urinate because hurts so badly. If that doesn't change soon I may be calling my doctor for advice. My stomach is all misshapen, too. I don't remember that from the last time but the incision is much bigger then it was last time. And my throat hurts like hell, from the breathing tube. I'm not having a good day.
I talked to my son on the phone for a while and I feel a lot better. I guess it took my mind off of it for a while. I know that the first day after surgery is the worse so hopefully things will be much better tomorrow.

You are one brave puppy to come home on the same day as your hernia. I know I could never do that. I don;t do well coming home after surgery. Just a simple kidney stone blasting or kidney stent insertion and I ended up in the hospital for a week. When I had my bowel obstruction, I was in for week, landing me in rehab and sending me back to the hospital for 6 more weeks barely alive, so needless to say, they won't touch my hernia I am glad you finally got yours fixed - you may feel uncomfortable now but it gets better everyday. I do hope you have good pain pills, that is one thing I do have.
good luck and I hope the pain gets better
good luck and I hope the pain gets better
Still swinging lizards for you, Tazz. Take it easy and do call the doc back if you can't handle the pain. Rest and keep hydrated.

Hi Tazz..
I also have an incisional hernia that needs repairing...after reading your message I am concerned...I do hope you will be feeling better soon...I am not a good patient and feel like I get better quicker at home as well...I hate being in hospital for any reason!! Was your hernia repair open or lap? Keeping you in my prayers for your speedy recovery...take care

Hi, it was done open. The incision was bigger then I thought it would be, almost as big as my surgery incision.
Don't let my whining scare you. I am a big baby ;) I'm sure yours will be much easier.
