Valentines Day in the ER

So most of you know I'm a horse girl so it would come as no surprise I had a horse related injury that sent me to the ER last night.  Yesterday while at school our first colt of the year was born.   I went to the barn to check on her and saw the most beautiful line back dun filly standing next to her mom.  I walked into the stall to check on the baby and the mare ran at me with her mouth open and ears back. I put my hand up to block her, my entire left hand went in her mouth.  She bit my left hand right at my wrist then again on top of hand and broke it.  They didn't cast it because of the open bite wounds, but I have to wear a splint for 4 weeks. 

Well thats my sad story for the day - lol, hope everyone has a great day!

 Ouch!  That's one protective mama. Here's swinging lizards for a quick and complete recovery for you.

Wow! Was this her first foal? Sounds extremely protective--sheesh! Lordy, I'll bet it'd feel better and you'd feel more secure with a cast but then, you'd probably start using it sooner than they'd like (cuz you could!) as most of us country type girls do.

Hope you have insurance???
