Good Morning. Nuclear winter
Climatic effects
A study presented at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union in December 2006 found that even a small-scale, regional nuclear war could disrupt the global climate for a decade or more. In a regional nuclear conflict scenario where two opposing nations in the subtropics would each use 50 Hiroshima-sized nuclear weapons (about 15 kiloton each) on major populated centers, the researchers estimated as much as five million tons of soot would be released, which would produce a cooling of several degrees over large areas of North America and Eurasia, including most of the grain-growing regions. The cooling would last for years, and according to the research could be "catastrophic".[9][10]

PT this morning, then maybe the pool. I was just beginning to feel like I was getting caught up on my work paperwork and now am depressed at the idea of falling behind again when I have this procedure done next week. Oh well, the world keeps turning.

I am impressed that we stay above the fray (thus far) and that everyone respects each other and their choices. It also great to see some long time post ops coming back for support. We ALL can learn from each other...
Blessings,
Jennifer
I see alot of people 3-6 months out giving advice on those boards. Everyone has a voice and should be heard, but there is no substitute for experience. I have seen people respond to posts in very negative and mean spirited ways on the other boards. I can only imagine being on the receiving end of those posts. If I can't say something nice or helpful, I talk to the computer, but I don't type it out. Sometimes it is hard to hold back. With any type of communication, it is all about the approach.
There was a particular post last week where a new member asked about RNY and smoking. One response was that a member had a perforated ulcer and needed emergency surgery and their doctor said it was from smoking. The original poster wrote back and asked besides that what are the negatives. It was evident the poster did not understand what a perforated ulcer was and the health impacts. The poster got slammed. Rather than be slammed, she needed to be educated. OH is the place to come for education and support. I think we get that on this board. I was thinking about how differently we would have responded as a group. It was terrible.
I check the new WLS boards on occasion. They aren't as active as this one. I don't know how I would have been successful on this WLS journey without this board. I don't know what I'd do without this board. I check it often. It helps me stay on track. It is encouraging. We aren't afraid to "call people out", but it is done in a way to help people and not in a demeaning or snide way. This is an amazing place and I hope it survives the nuclear winter too.
I love the Lightweights!

It is kind of strange how you watch people come and then watch them leave. There are a lot of people that have been on here that now I wonder where they are and how they are coping. Hope they are all doing great and living life to the fullest.
Thanks to everyone who has hung in here and helped us all!!
Work today. I have a continuing education class tonight to learn about my Kindle that I got for Christmas. I want to make sure I am using it to the fullest. Next month I have a class on my iPhone. I love my toys - I just need to make sure I know how to use them!!!

Do you buy books? I have been checking them out from our library. You can only keep them a week and I'm having a hard time reading them in a week's time.
