I need some encouragement

 I am really struggling right now.  I am tired.  Not as exhausted as last week, but still very tired.  I'm nauseous to the point that drinking water makes me shudder.  I'm taking Zofran during the day and Phenergan at night.  My period came back heavy today.  It slowed to spotting for a couple of days.  I'm not to the point of regretting my surgery, but I am certainly wishing I didn't feel so bad.  I know that this too shall pass, but man I am really struggling here.  I'm usually a pretty strong woman.  I've been through some tough things in my life but I can barely get through the day right now.  I have an appt with my PCP this afternoon and a new counselor next week.  I just need somebody to tell me this is normal and it will get better soon.

Unfortunately, what you're going through is normal for some folks. I don't know that I would have been strong enough either. Keep yourself as hydrated as possible and hit the Urgent care or ER if you have to get more fluids. I hope your appointment this afternoon helps.

Hang in there.  I know it's normal not to feel too great for a while after major surgery.  It takes a while for the anesthesia to get out of your body plus you have the hormones being released.  It will get better.

 Thanks gals.  I called my surgeons office for a refill of the Zofran and Phenergan and he said he wants to see me on Thursday.  The nurse said they will probably admit me for IV fluids and maybe some tests.  Until then I will keep trying to sip, sip, sip.

Keep on sipping.

I know after surgery Gina recomended water with a little sweetener and lime or lemon juice. I was able to sip this more easily than plain water and it had to be room temp. Cold beverages didnt go down as easily. I also used alot of decaf constant comment tea with a little stevia.

I also found that I loved wylers bullion cubes, it seemed to hit the spot, but be careful if you have a problem with the sodium.

Also try sugar free popsicles or sugar free jello, anything to help get some extra fluid in you.

Hang in there, you are completely normal and this too shall pass! Be kind and patient with yourself!!!   {{{ Big hugs to you}}}

I am so sorry you are going through this.  I totally understand.  Although I had no issues after my RNY, this knee has made me rethink my faith.  I think after breezing through RNY, I thought I was bullet proof.  You will get through this and life will be better.  You will be healthy again and have energy.  It just will take a while.  I am saying this to both of us.

I remember thinking "What have I done?" at about week 3. I think I expected to feel better by then and I also so wanted to use my old coping skills. Of course that was eating which I couldn't do any more. Hang in there. It WILL get better. In addition to not feeling well and probably being dehydrated you might be experiencing the let down and depression that is very common after major surgery. Some people don't have it but most have some measure of it. Follow up with your surgeon, try to keep sipping. Oh by the way, I couldn't drin**** water which is all I drank preop (if I drank water). I had to drink warm or room temp and it had to have crystal light or a little lemon for me to get it down. Swinging lizards that you feel better quickly.

Hang in there. I forget what your surgery date was, but it does take time.  My energy sucked for 5 months.  I kept feeling inadequate because so many people post about lots of exercise, shopping, feeling great, etc.  That just wasn't my journey.

Once I started feeling good though, I felt really good.
