Hi to a fellow Georgian and welcome to the LW Board.  What part of the state do you live in.  I am in the Southwest part.

I take Omeprazole every day and have for the last year almost.  I buy mine at Sam's.  I really need to try and get a prescription for it - I think it would be a lot cheaper.

I have terrible gas if I eat a lot of carbs.

I'm in a small town below Columbus and above Albany.  I had my surgery in Rome where I grew up.  Who did your surgery?  That might be a stupid question if it is on your info block, but I can't see it now when responding.

That 14 day warning is for normal people who don't have a reason to take it that overrides any issues that come from long-term use.

I have to say, maybe I'm a lucky one, but I don't take anything for my heartburn.  I do get heartburn (acid reflux) quite often.  I read somewhere the best way to calm the acid down is with water!   Now, mind you, I probably don't drink as much water as I should....but when it acts up (mainly at night)....I douse it with lots of water and it calms the reflux right down!!!

I would agree (with I think Mac said it), they limit the 14 days so you seek help if you need it for longer!  A script would probably be cheaper if you have insurance.  Good luck!!

Time flies when it comes to kids, I can feel with you!  My daughter turns 20 in May!!   I don't know how that happened!!  Because I haven't aged!!  Lol!  Happy belated to your sons, its an exciting age!!  Its great to hear that James has stepped up to the plate and been there for the boys!  He has given them something they need in there life!  Just because his isn't the Bio father, doesn't mean a thing!!  He has been their father and been there for them and you!  That's all that counts!  Good for you!!

There are never any problems, only solutions.  quoted by a dear and special friend!!!

what you are taking is the generic prilosec and it is fine for long term use - they just dont' want people buying it without consulting doctors for long term use.  One thing you need to know is that over the counter prilosec is a very low dose 20mg  - the prescription strength that most people need is 40mg.  I have been on either nexium or protonix for about 15 years and have no problems.  I am currently on Protonix 40mg 2 times per day.

Have you ever been tested for gluten intolerance/celiac disease?  this is an intolerance to wheat, oats, and cant remember the rest right now. If you eat anythign with wheat or other stuff - see celiac.com you can get terrible cramps, gas, bloating and abdominal pains.  It makes you severely fatigued.  You can try a gluten free diet for 2 weeks to see if it works but check out the website for a list of what is allowed and not allowed - there are many things that would suprise you and you really need to read labels.

another option is lactose intolerance - this can cause gas, bloating and diarhea with any dairy ingestion.

good luck with the calculas class - they were the worst classes I ever took in college.  I was a Math and education major and had to take 3 high level calculas classes and boy was I lost - loved math and still do but that was too abstract for me.  Good luck
