Do you vitamin gurus have any thoughts on this product?

I have such a hard time with supplemental calcium it does not sit well so I shy away form it, so that I thought it might be helpful with only one stomachache a day.

I have not seen it in the store to see if it is really made of citrate.

Not sure but I'm interested to see what Gina and other's have to say.

I take my Petites before bed because I was having the same problem and they don't seem to bother me then.  I use Bariatric  Advantage Calcium Citrate bites during the day and they don't seem to upset my tummy either. They give me a chocolate fix during the afternoon.

I don't know anything about this product. I do know, that your body is pulling calcium out of your  bones to use in your blood stream.

You are putting yourself at risk for very brittle bones and teeth falling out and that is a totally bad thing.

do yourself a favor, put on your big girl panties and FIND a calcium supplement you can tolerate,ASAP. it needs to be your mission in life till you find one,I am soooo serious here, please.

Maaybe check  WWW.vitalady.com for her recommendation.

they are not for us - they are a combination of calcium citrate and calcium carbonate - we can't abosrb the carbonate plus they cause kidney stones and we are high risk without the calcium carbonate.

Also, the slow release is no good - we can't take extended release medications - stick to the regular citrical or citrical maximums - 2 tablets 3 times per day or get the chewables from bariatric advantage - they are 500mg each and taste like sweet tarts - (cherry)

Thanks for your input.  I have a range of calcium supplements from calcets, to the chews, gummy, and tablets.

I try to take a range so I am getting something in.

I think doing different delivery methods is a great idea. One thing you might try to find, (Vitalady, WholeFoods or VitaminShoppe) is a calcium citrate in capsule form that doesn't have a lot of fillers in them. You can dump the contents into your protein shakes or mix it in yogurt, etc.

Unfortunately, a lot of those forms are calcium carbonate so you aren't getting much calcium out of them and you are increasing your risk of getting kidney stones.

With a VSG, time-release shouldn't be an issue but calcium carbonate is. You are just wasting your money and your time to take calcium carbonate. We don't absorb enough of it to make it worth while.

Except for the gummies which are a combination  and the only ones that do not irritate my stomach, the rest are citrate.   The chews and the calcets are bariatric brands.

I am aware that with my surgery extended release is okay as well as to avoid carbonate.  I just have not been able to locate the extended release to see their make up.

Here is a link to the citrical slow release - you can see that it is a combination of calcium citrate and calcium carbonate.  Take it from someone suffering terribly from kidney stones, dont' take calcium carbonate.

You could never get enough calcium citrate in one pill to take such a large dose.  That is why citrical you have to take 2 tablets to get 630mg and Oscal or other calcium carbonates are 600mg per 1 tablet.  Calcium citrate takes alot more to put in one pill than the carbonate.  Unfortunately you have to take then 3-4 times per day.
