Thanks!

Gina

Great public service announcement.

This has been my experience as well.  When I make sure I have some fats (mostly olive oil) in my diet, I'm much less hungry, and my cholesterol and triglycerides go down.  I also lose weight.

I've noticed since surgery if I have a high carb week, I gain weight, or if I'm on protein and don't worry about the olive oil, then I continue to lose quickly.

I would love to buy this .. especially as I struggle to lose on my primarily carb based VERY low fat diet with my very limited and hardly effective modified surgery .

BUT almost all MO people I have met have a HUGE FAT TOOTH .

you tell them they can eat fat theyre off and running with Mickey D's or Outback Steakhouse lol where there isnt a meal with under 50 grams of fat per seving . Mickey D's food and other fast and restaurant food also contains LOTS of carbs. And who in their right mind wants to live on a diet of pink slime ?

Even if its " just " bacon ,steak , full fat cheese and nuts ... its hardly a HEALTHY diet . These top-of -the -food -chain foods are RIFE with toxins, antibitic and hormone residues and long term have GOT to be bad for your heart , kidneys and maybe even are cancer -promoting .

I don't deny that limiting carbs provided Ure also eating , say a lowfat fish and fresh steamed veggies for a meal is the very fastest way to lose weight .

I just think pushing the envelope and eating the real atkins full fat one -sided diet CAUSES rampant weight gain if the craving carbs arent rigorously controlled ...every single HOUR and every single day .

Basically that means living with dragon breath and bread cravings full time . You can't even eat anything breaded then fried for the carbs ...so what good is the " free fat " component really doing ya ? Same thing with sweet rib sauce ... its too carby.. and will cause weight gain.

I personally prefer a weight-maintenance diet of filling rice , beans , and veggies ( and a bit of high quality low toxicity meat or fish once in a while ) . If I need to lose weight I know how to RUN ( and cut out the bread temporarily )

I will also point out that my high-carb high fiber and very low fat diet has still resulted in a far lower setpoint than almost everyone on OH ( though i do wi**** was lower , granted ) . And I don't have to exercise to stay here either , though I have plenty of energy to.

Gina, Dr. Richard Bernstein has been saying the same thing to diabetics for YEARS...that it's not meat/fat but CARBS that make our blood sugars rise and make us gain weight.

Then there was Atkins, of course, but BOTH men and many others were following the advice of this man: William Banting.

William is a distant relative of Fredrick Banting who discovered insulin. Btw, before the discovery of insulin, an extremely low carb diet was the only way diabetics managed to live.

Oh,not me. getting mad I mean. I love this chart and am going to the website and join up or whatever they do,lol. Can't wait for dH to get home so I can show him, too. been reading up on "wheat belly" book and going to get it today. It says the same thing and is written by a preventative cardiologist. after I read the book,DH and I are going totally carb free. He wants to lose his wheat belly and I have been stopped in my weight loss since Oct.

I will post about our progress.
