I'm Gaining

Went to the doctor's about my elevated liver enzymes.  She ordered a boatload of tests and an ultrasound plus a referal to a liver specialist.  No clue what it could be.  I'm not really concerned...yet.
I got on the scale and since my last visit on the 9th I am up almost 5 lbs.  I knew I had gained but my scale only shows me up 2 lbs.  I have mixed feelings.  Of course I am glad to finally be gaining and I am hopeful to get to a better weight for me but of course the fear is there.  What if I can't stop?  What if I get out of controll again?  How much should I gain?  Where and how do I stop?
Right now the plan is to stay between 115 to 120.  I may want to go higher from there depending on how I look and feel.
I am glad I am gaining, I just don't want to watch, lol  Maybe I need to stay off the scale except my weekly weigh in and go by my clothes.  I have a whole shed full of clothes that are too big on me now that I can wear when I gain some weight so I don't have to worry about buying new clothes.  It's just the mental part of watching the scale go up that is hard so I may need you to talk me down from the ledge when I start to freak out.

just think of food as medicine right now and eat...also if you don't want to get out of control then eat stuff you don't like to gain weight...honnestly...or make it taste bad so you don't enjoy it...it's just a thought...sometimes we just have to follow the doctor's orders even if it doesn't feel right...best of luck..

Thank you.  It's hard to get excited about gaining weight but then I feel my ribs sticking out and I look forward to looking healthy.

Best report I've seen you make in a long time. I'm happy for you! Stay away from the scale and drink up that protein--you don't have to keep adding carbs if you don't want to. Protein will help you stabilize at a good weight too.

Good luck at the liver doctor.  I'm glad you are putting on a few pounds.  You have a great support system here so if you feel like the weight is getting out of control just post about it.  Roz and Gina et al will get you back on the straight and narrow in no time.

that's good news.  I know I'm not happy seeing the scale going down.  I already looke retty gaunt.  But then when it  goes up a pound or two, I'm not comfortable either.  Hopefully all the test will lead to some information that is useful.

Sounds like you needed to gain.  Hope all the testing reaveals something useful.

You must have needed to increase your calorie intake.  You can do this with planned snacks and added calories of protein drinks  so that you still feel in control.  You want to add good calories.  I'm amazed at how the calories can add up even when eating healthy.

Good luck with everything.
