OT: I'm supposed to be postmenopausal
I went 15 months with no period. I had my labs drawn a year ago and I was close but not quite in menopause. I have now had 2 periods. One in November and another now. WTH???? My Gyn doctor isn't at all concerned. I'm 45. I'm wondering if I will get more now that I'm utilizing all those fat stored hormones. Anybody else go through this craziness?
Sorry I can't help you with that. I had a hysterectomy when I was 32. That would be terrible to not have one for 15 months and then start again.

i had a hysterectomy 20 yrs ago but after surgery, I went though something like hot flashes and mood swings similar to menopause. I figured it was from the hormones.

I was the opposite. Before surgery I was having a lot of hot flashes and I was miserable. Since the surgery I hardly have any and it seems my menopause symptoms are gone. I have heard that menopause could last years so I am hoping I am over with it. If I am I have to say it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I also had a hysterectomy 10 years ago but I still have my ovaries.

Similar thing happened to me at age 52 post-op DS. A couple of months where periods returned and then they were gone for good again. Must be the hormones.

that is kind of odd. Usually once you go for a year without a period, you are considered post menopausal. Have you had your FSH, LH and estradiol levels done recently to know where your hormones stand? My labs said post menopausal for 3 years even though I was still getting my period 3 times per year. I had my last period the day I woke up from my gastric bypass. About 18 months later, I started bleeding for 2 days. I went to the gynocologist and she did an immediate transvaginal ultrasound - the normal test for what they call abnormal post menopausal bleeding. If it is normal, which mine was = then you can just ignore it. She said it was probably just one last period poking its way through. IF abnormal, then a biopsy is necessary. I would incist on an ultrasound just to be sure. You should have already gotten rid of all those hormones that were stored in the fat cells. You lost the fat, so it shouldn't be a problem - maybe if you were still actively losing rapidly.
Good luck.
Good luck.
