Can anyone give me some suggestions for their favorite ways, brands, etc of getting in their protein? I'm 5'9 so I will need to take in at least 80g of protein and I am new to the protein world. I've tried some premade shakes but they are all sweet which I know will get old quickly and who wants the same thing multiple times a day every da?. I do so much better when people tell me what works for them instead of blindly figuring it out on my own. All feedback welcome!
I agree with Linda. Order samples of different flavors. I would also get some unflavored. That doesn't mean it has no taste, just isn't flavored like chocolate or vanilla. You can mix it with lots of different things, like V-8 which is a great break when everything is so sweet. many of us like nectar products so that may be a good place to start.

Some of us experience lactose intolerance post op for awhile. I had to switch to Muscle Milk Light or I'd get the runs something fierce. I later switched to GMC Hydro Whey that has digestive enzymes. I like the turbo chocolate and velocity vanilla. 30 grams of protein per scoop.
I too got lots of samples from vitalady, nectar, Chike and Unjury who has a chicken broth flavor but it's high in sodium.

You have gotten some great advice already.
Stock up on samples, because it was amazing how much tastes change postop, everything seemed very intense for atleast the first few months, then things changed again.
About time protein powder is still my all time favorite. Still have the cinnamon swirl every morning in my coffee.
You should also look up under the search here, Jody has a list of alot of shake recipes with different flavors. You should be able to find something that will suite your palate.
The world according to eggface, has a ton of recipes for postops at different stages.
Nik, the bariatric foodie, has alot of great ideas for shakes and protein.
Unjury has great recipes for protein jello and pudding that helped me a great deal postop.
Also try a few different brands of unflavored protein (trial packets, they do have a flavor and a smell) to mix into savory dishes like broth, refried beans and chili I used to add it too.
Good luck, and dont forget about ordering samples of vitamins and calcium too!

Everyones right about your taste buds being off after surgery for awhile. Buying Jugs of Protein before hand for after surgery use is a waste of money. Everything tastes, sweeter, sourer, saltier etc.
I could only use unflavored at the beginning. I put it in practically everything....soup, milk, SF hot chocolate, SF pudding, SF jello, oatmeal, water/crystal lite, etc.
This company sells samples packs of Syntrax Nectares but I've never dealt with them. You can pick which flavors you want:
http://www.bjsbariatrics.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=bjb&Product_Code=synSamplePack&Category_Code=syn (11 for $19.71)
This is the website for samples from the manufacture of the Nectares but you don't want to order jugs from them because their prices are outrages. You have to take whatever samples they send you but you don't pay shipping. http://www.si03.com/reg_index.htm (13 for $13.00)
Vitalady.com has a lot of samples. They are $2.99 each.
