I'm just curious if there are any fellow lightweighters in their early 30's late 20's who have had issues with excess skin. I've been told the younger you are when you have the surgery the less the excess skin will be. I'm also curious if needing to lose less would have some impact on it. I would love any tips on what to do to help with the issue. I haven't had my surgery yet but I want be prepared. Excersise tips etc? Thanks!
I had abdominoplasty when I was in my early 30's (before I got heavy) just from excess skin from my pregnancies in my early 20's. I think how well your skin bounces back has to do with the elasticity of it to begin with. Certainly being younger helps, but it's not the only factor. Exercise helps tone whats under the skin, but excess skin is just that...excess.
The first time I lost a lot of weight I was 21 and lost about 80 lbs. I was shocked about the excess skin. No one told me and for a long time I thought I had to lose more weight and it would go. I only remember the stomach being an issue. I don't remember being upset about my thighs or arms.
I think it has a lot to do with genetics and just plain luck. When my sister lost about 140 lbs she said she had no issues with excess skin.
