Good Morning. WLS is like a box of chocolates
I wish all WL surgeons were trained to do and support all WLSs, and objectively report the pros and cons of each. I wish they would learn from their successful patients as well as their unsuccessful ones. I wish surgeon's office staff and medical support staffs were trained to support all WLSs, and objectively report the pros and cons of each. I wish the office and medical support staff would learn from their successful patients as well as their unsuccessful. Did I miss anything? I'll have the milk chocolate with the nuts, thanks.

I think it's crazy how every person on this site gets different instructions, different menus, and different protein needs, etc. from the Surgeons and Nuts.
When I go for my yearly checkups I'm never asked what I eat, how much protein I'm getting in, how many calories...ectc. I've come to the conclusion that they think the surgery they performed is doing all of the work and I'm just enjoying the ride. I wonder how many patients actually go for those yearly checkups if they haven't been successful so they only see the ones who are working to keep it off.
My friends who all had the same surgeon as me are all gaining their weight back. Only two of my friends who are very tall still look good. They've gained weight but they carry it better than my shorter friends. I'm the only one in our whole group of friends who is still maintaining and I give the LW''s the credit for that because of the the knowledge I have learned from all of you.
If you want to be successful you have to hang with successful people....YEAH LW's!!!!!!

Gina, I also wish our providers were more educated. I think my surgeon is either stunned or possibly annoyed at how much info I have. He joked that I knew enough for a dietician (no). I recently asked in support group if the dietician would help me with my adding supplements since my surgeon's recommendations were quite low, She said she really couldnt do that. Hmmmm....so if I listen to them I am on 2 MV and calcium citrate only. Without my research and OH, I would've been in trouble. This is still a learning curve....I just wish there was some GOOD support from our programs as well.
I also feel that for those of us who have food addiction issues, there should be MUCH more of a component in our programs about this as well.
Can you tell you struck a nerve???!!
Happy weekend all!
