Protein Calculator
I have Kashi on my Facebook and they posted this link today. Its a calculator to figure out how much protein you need. Of course this is meant for Normal peeps, not WLS peeps, so keep that in mind. My calculations said I need 95 grams of protein. I average between 85 - 125 grams a day. Keeping the malabsorbtion factor in mind, perhaps I need to shoot for 125 everyday. Cindy

Wow, mine said:
That's about what I get and right now when I'm not working out at all eating that much gives me normal protein levels (Finally). But I suspect when I start workng out again, I'll have to eat more than that.
112 grams
I am impressed as many of these calculators recommend way too low. Of coure Kashi is a "we're a protein product" company. (I'd say they are a high protein product company but their products aren't really that high in protein on an absolute scale.)That's about what I get and right now when I'm not working out at all eating that much gives me normal protein levels (Finally). But I suspect when I start workng out again, I'll have to eat more than that.

Okay lurker non-poster writing...
My variables show 88g Protein which is more than the dietician (who doesn't want to understand RnY or believe in my need for Protein Powder even after almost four years!) nor what most charts show of what one weighs in kilo then a out one tenth is your amount in grams.
I'm five feet tall and now weigh 77-78K so I thought aiming for 80-100g/day was good but maybe I need even more?
I drink a large PPDrink(2scoops in Blender Bottle with ice,water,and a about a C milk-gives me 50g protein to jump-start my day) every morning.
I try to eat protein foods throughout the day: 2-3eggs w/cheese in microwave; chicken or fish filet or canned tuna/salmon; yogurt. In foods alone I think I average eating 60-70g/day.
Many of my friends think I'm crazy yet my cholesterol was 162.
Two years ago I did a personal experiment to do with my need for PP (I was tight on money) and did not buy PP fora month and only got my protein from foods and not the liquid. Before I did the experiment my total protein in blood tests was 7.4 but after a month ithas stopped to 6.9 which I felt was a big drop after only a month. So I am one of the PP drinkers.
I guess my big question is "how much malabsorption does the average RnYer have on nutrition (and yes I take my vitamins!) ??
