Good Morning. Tweaking vitamins from labs

Any idea how long it might take for vitamin A to come down if I stop taking additional supplements? Is 3 months enough to show a difference?

Yes, 3 months should be enough time. Here are my values and the time frame that it took to drop down. My SGPT (liver function) was a little elevated a few months ago and it also came down to high normal. The bariatric internist said that it is fairly normal to have high liver function values for the first year after WLS.

Btw, your ferritin isn't that high. The high range with my health plan is 280.

Why is your ALT so high?.

Don't know why the ALT is high it got high like that during weight loss and stayed high. Dr E said he sees it a lot in DSrs but isn't too worried about it. He said if the numbers were double or triple to top of the range, then he'd be worried.

I'm not really sure he knows why malabsorbers seem to run ALT high. He says if AST were high he'd think alcohol, so ALT must be different.

About your A... I cut back to 25,000 3 days a week and I was still higher this time. Maybe stopping it all together for a few months and then testing might work. Perhaps once we get our A labs at the top of the range it's easier to maintain with little extra effort on our part. I seem to recall reading something about when the A level gets high enough it's easier for our bodies to take beta carotene and convert it to A. Now where I read that, I have no idea.

Thank you about the ferritin. I'm pretty happy with my iron markers too. Thank goodness for Vitalady.
