Iron and Other Meds
The ferrous sulfate is really hard on our systems (constipation) and very hard for us to absorb. I would stay clear of that and it's the one you'll find in most OTC iron supplements because it's so cheap.
Look for BiFerra (sp) at Walgreen's or a heme, carbonyl, or bisglycinate iron as "bugirl" mentions in the other iron post. Perhaps VitaminShoppe?

Thanks guys....I will look for alternatives in local stores....we are just NOW getting a Vitamin Shoppe but I am unsure when it will open. We have several granola stores so I bet I can find something there. I will be at a Vitamin World this weekend at the outlets and will look.
I will check on the presciption.....I would have to talk with my PC physician as my surgeon said my iron level was nothing to worry about and has not said to take iron. We will see at my yearly labs in two months. My dad has low iron and has taken presciption iron for years. He is tricare and I am not.

Iron, whether alone, or as part of a multivitamin or prenatal vitamin supplement, interferes with thyroid hormone absorption. You should not take your vitamins with iron at the same time as your thyroid hormone, and should allow at least three hours between taking your thyroid hormone drugs, and any supplements or vitamins that contain iron.
