iron supplement question

Hi,
I posted a while back about my low iron. It was really low and I'm slowly getting it up. Vitalady had me taking Tender irons (5) in the morning eating only a piece of fruit with it and 2 Profferin in the afternoon. I hate the Tender Iron. No matter what they hurt my stomach. Proferrin doesn't affect me at all. Anyone take only the Proferrin? Or anything other than the Tenders that don't hurt their gut? I'll do what I have to do to get my levels up but I truthfully won't be able to maintain the gut hurting meds.

I take only the Proferrin and it helps my iron levels.  She used to have a tender iron that was able to be chewed and tasted pretty good, but last time I ordered I couldn't find it.

Be sure to cut your Proferrin in half - it will help you absorb it better.

I think her Tender Irons are the same thing, but have vitamin C in them also. Those didn't hurt your stomach? They kill me.

No, they don't bother me.  Try taking them with some more food, but not dairy or egg.

Some folks have trouble with the Tender capsules but do fine with the Tender chewable iron tablets. I don't think it's the carbonyl iron but the blast of iron from that many capsules at once.

I have heard of folks taking as many as 3 Proferrin a day. Perhaps if you take more Proferrin and reduce the Tender to 3 capsules? Or, try the chewable Tender iron, sometimes she has samples she can send with an order.

Majormom-what about iron bisglycinate.  I have read that it is easier on the stomach and absorbed more.  Is that true?

Yes! That's the other one I couldn't think of. Vitalady carries it too, or used to, I'll have to check. Thanks!
