Update on me...
I miss my pyloric valve, too, and I'm not even having issues (yet). And mine is gone, like never coming back gone. And the sugeon didn't even bother to tell me before hand that it was going. Still pissed off about that.
I have been having pain so they scheduled me for a scope next month. No hurry I guess. I am also wating to hear from the doctor's office about a date for my hernia surgery.
Is WLS worth it? I wish I could have done it without it. I still wonder if maybe I could of. I feel like I have to do the same things to keep the weight off whether I had WLS or not. I tell myself that the surgery makes it easier and perhaps it does. I sure hope they come up with a better way to treat obesity then what they have now because what they have now sucks, no matter how good it is.

Just sending hugs, Jody. The cats are playing in the gym, or I'd swing one (the young guy would probably love it - he's a thrill seeker!).

I am so sorry to hear about this Jody. I am another one voting for Protonix. I had to get a preauthorization for it recently even though I have been on it for a long time. Then whenI went to get it from the pharmacy, they said it was free, even though I usually pay a $10 co-pay. I don't get that. It works better than anything I have tried.
I hope they get this all figured out soon. Would a bairatric doctor be able to sort it all out better? I know there has to be a reason you went to your PCP. I am up a creek if anything goes wrong with my sleeve, since I went to MX.

Protonix is now generic, so the insurance company may not give you as much grief over it. Like other people have said, you may have to try a different acid reducer to find one that works.
As far as RH, they are finding that it occurs with VSG people, as well. When I had my year visit with the Bariatric Internist last September, she said that she had just returned from a conference where RH was discussed and it is being documented by other programs. She said that she had confirmed 3 cases by medical testing, so this is a real happening with VSG folks.
The best treatment, is eating protein with any type of carb, and not going more than 3-4 hours without eating. Testing is a good way to start documenting, so that you can find out what is contributing to the RH.
So, having your pyloric valve may help, but this is also happening with the VSG. It may be due to increased gastric emptying. Another reason to always have protein with any carbs that you eat and to stay away from alcohol, which is metabolized as a simple sugar.
Swinging all my four cats for you!!
