Did you have a stricture?
A lot of you guys know that I developed a stricture and have been dilated twice. I just started eating this week :) So far, so good ! Just wondering if anyone else has had one and what your experience with it was like. How many dilations? How fast were you able to advance your foods? Any other problems? What meds did you take? Any info....

I had stricture, required only one dilation. I did liquids the day of the dilation, soft foods the next day and then back to normal foods after that. It was such a relief to eat without pain!
I did have to take Prilosec for 3 months, as some of the spicy foods I ate while the stricture developed messed with my esophagus a bit

Thanks, I know what you mean about relief. I was never able to advance from liquids, so eating real food now is strange :) Do you know how big they dilated you? I have had 2 dilations....the 1st was to 8mm, the 2nd to 1.2 cm. They have me taking protonix two times daily.

I was down to 2mm and he dilated me to 12mm.
I was 8 weeks out when they dilated mine. Hindsight can help me identify I should have gone in much sooner. But I didn't know, I had heard that when you ate too much you had pain under the sternum, si I kept thinking I was eating too much. What a difference when it was fixed!
