Update: I'm pouched

I'm at the hospital.  All went well.  Yesterday I felt like I'd been run over by a semi, today I just feel like somebody punched me in the tummy.  So I'm way better already.  Absolutely no problem getting up to walk.  I've done several laps around the nurses station.  It burns when I drink water, though.  Anybody else experience that?  It's not excruciating, but uncomfortable.  I've tried cold and room temp water.  Room temp is best.  They gave me some Protonix.  That might help.

Welcome to the other side, Tonya.  If they have given you some tea with a lemon wedge, try squeezing just a bit into your water and see if it agrees with your tummy a little better. Crazy, but it works.

tonya, I agree, warm was and sometimes still is way better than cold.  Everything tasted to me like it had just too much flavor and water was heaven.  But lots of folks find the little bit of lemon works best for them.  It is trial and error but it sounds like you are doing wonderfully.  Welcome to the other side.

For the first week or so all I wanted was room temp. water or warm tea.  2 weeks out things got a bit more normal and I liked my water cold again.

Congrats!

It is SO nice to be on the other side even with all the soreness.  I recall my initial post days so well.  Rest and drink....COLD did NOT sit well withe me for sometime.....I would drink room temperature.....also, as Gina said, I could drink cold powerade zero, etc but no****er.  Now, 10 months later cold water is what I yearn for and forgo crystal light, etc, most of the time.  Pouchy is healing so go with what it wants.

Good luck!!!

YEAH!!!!!  I was hoping you would post!!!  Glad to hear you are improving every day!!

I hurt when I swallowed.  I can't remember if it was a burning feeling but I do remember it being very uncomfortable.  They told me at first it was probably from the tubes that they had down my throat but it lasted for a couple of weeks.  Finally during the 2nd week I asked if I could use a straw because it only hurt when I drank something and I didn't think I had a sore throat.  They told me as long as I didn't think it was adding gas in my tummy that I could use one.  Made a world of difference!!  Warm liquids did feel better.

I still take Prilosec.  My tummy seems to churn when I miss a few days and I feel really hungry.

Tonya great to hear you are doing well!! Congrats !! I too had a very uncomfortable feeling when I first started drinking water and the warmer was better.  I had severe gas so that's where most of the problems occured when I drank because it would make the air move but it wasn't necessarily a burning.  Good to hear your are up and walking and I cant wait to hear from you again. Welcome to the other side !!!
