Gypsy, I read something about the lower calories making the body think it's starving and as a result holds on to the weight.

I've done the same thing...the days I eat less/exercise more, I either stay put or gain.

We're both coming up on our one year.

When I was in the losing stage and in a plateau I would raise my calories (through Protein) for 3 days and then drop back down to my regular calorie total and it always got me losing again. I think your body feels like it is  maintaining when you consistenly take in the same calories every day and then when you give it a little more for a few days then drop back down the scales start moving in the right direction.

Now that I am in maintenance I need to keep pretty much at the same calories all of the time to stay within my range.  I found out over the holidays that even small bites of sweets and carbs could add on the pounds fast.

Thanks Roz for your message!!  I will try your idea of raising calories thru protein for the 3 days as you mentioned and see if it will drop those last 5 lbs...thanks for the tip Roz...Happy New Year too!!!

I would also change up your exercise routine, either trying a new exercise(s), increasing the intensity, time, and/or frequency. When you do the same things, your body gets used to it, and doesn't have to work as hard. Thus, you burn less calories. You need to change things up. This always helped me.
