Menus and Miles Wed. Jan. 4th
I had to fast all morning for my Gallbladder Ultrasound and pre op bloodwork. I was so hungry I thought I was going to chew my own arm off!! Then I learned some important things about my self. I am addicted to carbohydrates. Yes it's true. I ordered a very small shepherds pie at a restaurant with a salad. Then I had a piece of banana cream pie. I was only going to have a couple of bites, it was included in my meal. I didnt have to pay for it. And I was already full. Nope I ate the whole thing! It gets worse. I stopped at the grocery store to pick up some items for dinner and left with a small tub of macaroni salad. And I ate some. Not a lot but I am helpless against it! WTH! I plugged it all into myfitnesspal.com and after dinner, I will only have had 1100 calories. So not huge considering I'm preop. But wow, 8 days of being good meant nothing after 2 bites of pie. I am so glad I'm having surgery. I can't have pasta for a year according to my surgeons "rule". I think I'll abide by it just for my own safety! Maybe that will break my carb addiction.
I think this was a good lesson for you. I still occasionally eat when I am full but boy do I pay the price being very uncomfortable. And after surgery, it will take much less to fill you up. But learning to stop is a great lesson that I am still working on. Hopefully you will have a full signal that you can listen to. I don't have one until it is way too late.
I like some carbs way too much but don't think I am really addicted. But our pre-op diet was white carb free for 1 month and I do think it helped me break the carb habit. Sometimes I want the because they are just easier than cooking a veggie. Sugar calls my name more than bread, crackers, rice and pasta. And after my last mini-dump, when we all went out to eat earlier in the week, everyone had desert but me. I wasn't about to try that again. I know I will push the limit again sometime, but the lesson was still fresh enough for me to remember how yucky that felt.

Hello everyone! Hope your day was a good one!
I started back to work today...had only 2 kids in my class (special ed./ severe/profound medically fragile children) so it was a good easy day back since surgery.
I am going to start posting what I eat as I have been having a hard time with my losing since surgery. As of today I am 3 weeks out I started out on surgery day at 203.3 and today weighed in at 194.4...and average of 2.96 lbs a week. I am trying to stay on the positive side of things and think I could not have gotten below 200 without this surgery, as I would self sabatoge right around 202lbs in the past. I will keep on keepin on...as I won't let anything get in my way to get to my goal.
Can anyone shed some light or let me know if they were a slow loser right from the start?

Sounds like you are doing great. almost 3 lbs a week isn't slow and sometimes folks who are consistant don't seem to have stalls. I wasn't a fast loser but I never had a stall. Your fluids and protein look great. Just stay on track and you will be fine. Great success so far.

@ Sue,
You are doing good!! Remember your surgery weight is LOW so it may come off slower (this is the case for me) BUT, many lightweights also lose fast.....just take it day by day and celebrate each pound......I TRY to remember that someone who was over 300 pounds who lost 100 pounds in 10 months is like someone at 200 pounds losing 50 in the same amount of time. Just keep on keeping on and I bet it will fly off!!!
