Nervous about surgery

Complications are something that many of us think about, especially after being around a while and seeing that they do in fact happen.  But as Maria said, they are rare and pretty fixable.  Many many more of us have a totally uneventful surgery and easy recovery.  The odds are in your favor that you will do fine and have an easy time.  Breathe, you will be fine.

The 2 weeks prior to my RNY I was freaking out.  The Saturday evening before my surgery, I actually wrote a letter to my husband and son and put it in an envelope to be read in worst case scenerio.  He never gave it a second thought, and thought I was being silly, maybe I was, but I wanted to be prepared or at least feel prepared.

These emotions you are feeling are warrented, but like you said, you know your doctors complication rates.  You are doing this for you, and your health.  You can do this.  Many, many blessings, and good health to you!

ABSOLUTELY...you can do this.  With your medical background, I'm sure you did your homework and chose a good surgeon and program.  Be at peace.

I totally know how you feel. I made sure my husband understood that any body parts that could be donated would be donated should anything happen to me.
The surgery is what I needed but I sure felt alone and really questioned whether it was the best for me since the surgery was an option and it was my choice to do it.
I am so happy I have and look forward to challenging the world and myself with all I am able to do.
