Good Morning. What was the best gift you gave?

Can you name the best gift you gave to someone this year?

I'm not sure I can name one but there's a young lady at work that gets no encouragement from her mother and I make sure she gets a pat on the back and vote of confidence from me as often as possible.

Can you name one or more?

For those that celebrate them...Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah. Happy Holidays to all.

I have really supported the folks who work for me during a time of uncertainty and high work load.

The best gift I received is a wonderful young man came up to me at work, and thanked me for making him who he is today.

For the past few years, I have asked staff to not buy me presents for Christmas and instead if they feel they MUST do something, make a donation.  My business matches each donation.  This year we sent $50 to the Council on Aging who does the meals on wheels program in our area, $250 to the local animal shelter, and $460 to Heifer international.  Not bad for a tiny business struggling in this changing environment.

Wow Price that is absolutely AMAZING! I know it is work related for you but I would like to donate to the Meals on wheels, if you can send me your address I would like to send at least 20 bucks.

i can pm you an address but I would encourage you to donate locally instead.  There is some agency in your area that does the same thing, I imagine.  If not, let me know.  Our Council on Aging also has a thrift store which I support greatly, LOL, and that allows my clients to come and volunteer.  It has been a good relationship for both of us.

I am going back to school online and was struggling so I hired a tutor.  I found out that she is a struggling single mom of three that doesn't receive child support.  Christmas was going to be slim this year!  I gathered some friends from work and we gave her kids 8 gifts each plus an Xbox to share and a few gifts for Mom too.  There are 3 seriously happy kids this morning that were only expecting essentials like mittens and hats under the tree.

I gave a young mom the morning off so she could wrap presents.  Her five year old and I went to the doggy park for a few hours.

I gave my mother in law the gift of going with her to the Holacoust survivior's Chanukah party.  I did it as a favor to her, but the truth is, I had a fabulous time so I guess I really gave the gift to myself!

Shalom and happy holidays to everyone here.

I cant say I have done just one specific thing, I continue to help my elderly friend with her banking, shopping, Dr appts and just getting her out of the house all together. I have done this all year long and will continue until she says she doesnt want me anymore, she is 89.

I have also lent an ear at work. It is funny how so many people come in to Starbucks just to chat. One gentleman in particular has definately come out of his shell and I can tell is not as depressed. In fact I need to widh him Happy Hanukkah. He is not the only one though, many military wives have sought me out so we can chat. (What can I say I have the gift )

To be honest it has been an amazing year and WLS and Working has been the best thing ever for me! Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year everyone.

Hey, Stacey, I'm curious. Did you start working at Starbucks to get WLS or did you start working there after your surgery?

The reason I ask is that we tell people all the time who can't afford surgery to get a job at Starbucks but I've never known anyone who actually did it!

I gave the receptionist some Erin Baker Breastfast Cookies in holiday flavors in a decorative tin because I've been at my job a month and I STILL don't have an access card so she has to buzz me in every day. I figure it has to be annoying to her so I wanted to show my appreciation.

I think she must not get much at work because she acted like I'd given her a gold necklace or something.

Plus she had one of the Gingerbread cookies and said it was delicious.
