Lightweight newbie with a surgical complication
Hi Jana,
I don't post regularly any more but I'm a LW bandster!! I was banded in March of 08'. My surgeon expexted me to lose about 40-70% of my excess weight and gave me a goal weight of 170 pounds. I reached that goal just about 5 months post-op and kept right on going. Now, several years out, I maintain right between 113-118 pounds at 5'6 and a size 0-ish, lol!! Just depends on the brand. I'd have NEVER in a million years thought my "big bones" would be that tiny but heck, I'm built like a 12 year old boy, lol!! I haven't had any real complications with my band; no slips, no erosion. I did have a port replacement, but I pulled my port loose in the gym and opted to have it replaced with a low profile port. I struggled long and hard with transfer addiction and still occasionally have to remember to fight when things get sticky. For the most part life is smooth sailing for me these days. My restriction level is perfect and I no longer monitor what goes in my mouth. I eat what I want when I want it, and since the quantity is small it doesn't affect the scale one bit.
I'm sorry to hear that you had a complication, but it does happen. Try to stay calm and rest well and I'm sure you'll heal up in no time!! Welcome to banded world and good luck on your journey!! I'm sure that you'll find it to have been a good choice as long as you follow the plan and remember that we didn't gain weight over night and we don't lose it that fas either!! Please feel free to add me on facebook if you'd like (user name Pants People or email addy [email protected]), I'm far more active there than I am here and I have LOTS of other bandsters on my friends list!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
