Soda stream machine?

I know after surgery we aren't supposed to drink soda because it stretches our pouch.  However one of my most favorite things in this world is a root beer float before bed.  I use A&W diet root beer with fat free sugar free vanilla frozen yogurt.  I saw that you can adjust the carbonation level with the soda stream machine.  I was thinking maybe I could just use the lowest setting and still occasionally enjoy my favorite treat.    Anybody have one?  BTW DH drinks enough soda to make it a worthwhile purchase so it's not just for me.

Not here - I find that the carbonation just tastes salty to me now. BUT - DaVinci makes a SF root beer syrup, and I've been known to use that with vanilla protein to make a root beer float shake to take with to Dog N Suds when we take the Corvette to the shows for anyone who wants another way to do it.

(and, if you're RNY, it can't stretch the pouch. We have no valve at the bottom anymore, and liquids go right on through. It can lead to gas bubbles and discomfort, and some say the carbonation can lead to ulcers... although I haven't seen any studies... but don't sweat the pouch stretching thing from liquids).

I will definitely buy some SF root beer syrup.  I will try mixing it with a vanilla protein drink.  I wonder if there is a S F orange syrup?  That would be like an orange cream soda.  Any suggestions on vanilla protein?

I believe there is a SF orange syrup.  I buy my syrups at Cash & Carry.  If you don't have those near you, check out a restaurant supply store.

I haven't found a plan vanilla protein powder I like but I do like IDS MultiPro vanilla-cinnamon. The cinnamon isn't very strong and there isn't a strong protein taste to it.

I have SF orange syrup and I like it in my chocolate shakes too. Syntrax Nectar chocolate truffle has no protein taste to me.

Body Fortress from Walmart is my go to vanilla protein. Its 33 grams of isolate whey protein per scoop and only $14.99 for 2 pounds!

I mix vanilla protein with a tube of orange crystal light for a great orange cycle taste.  It is also good with raspberry crystal light.  I like the Nectar vanilla and use it in coffee with cinnamon vanilla SF syurp. Drinking it as we speak.   I'm limited (which may be a good thing) in what SF syurps I can buy in this area.  World Market has some but not all the yummy things I see others using.  I always forget to see what is availble when I am ordering protein.
