Vitamins, nausea and liquid diets
I will be so glad to start pureed food this Saturday. I can't figure out how to take my vitamins without getting nauseated on this liquid diet. Vitamins had a history of upsetting my stomach prior to WLS so I took them with food. Protein shakes are just not the same!
Anyway, just venting. I'm doing great and actually ventured into the world of cottage cheese this morning and ate a tablespoon full, and it seems to have helped...

You're doing great! I agree that protein shakes are not the same!! I still have some trouble with calcium citrate if I don't take it with food, or use some of those chewy bites.
As you increase texture in foods, just remember to continue to take it slow, and let your new anatomy get used to the new textures.
Good luck!

Why not hold off on the vites until you go to mushies? #1 priority is hydration right now and if vites are making you sick, just put them off for a little while.

I'm getting in at least 60 grams protein and 60-80 oz. water/liquid right now, so it's not like the vitamins are keeping me from doing any "eating" or drinking... I've been taking them since the Saturday after my surgery (almost a week) and have them as part of the routine at this point, so I'll just continue on and complain.
I was 99.9% better after the spoonful of cottage cheese, so I think I'll just start doing that a few days early in the a.m. before taking the vitamins. They don't seem to bother me in the evening, only a.m.

Yes, early out I had to have a soft food (very soft- yogurt or a thick shake) in my pouch before I took any vites or they came right back up.
Hang in there - sounds like you've got a good plan, In a couple more weeks, things will settle down even nmore and it'll be easier.

Pre-WLS I too had major problems with nausea when I took vitamins (which were pills). I now take the Chewable Centrum Silvers - and had a chewable from day 1 and it took care of the problem.
I also find ANY vitamin that doesn't have a coating on it irritates my pouch. So I tend to suck it up and chew them (mainly my B vitamin). But - NO GEL CAPS!! Those won't dissolve properly in your pouch and can cause blockage in your intestines (as I was told). Capsules work best for me, if I can't find it in a chewable.
Glad you found cottage cheese helps - this really IS a trial and error thing!

I still do chewable multis although I have never had any problems with any of them.
sounds like you are doing great so keep on keeping on. I remember being very ready for each diet phase change. None of them last forever in the grand scheme of things so take it slow and enjoy each one.
