I posted to you. You can also see Diana's talking about some misinformation in a thread called The Idiocy Starts Already. She has a link to some helpful info there.

Got a pretty discouraging phone call from my doc this evening. He said that once his office sent all the paperwork to the external review board, there is nothing more to be done. Even though I had 3 days to send more documentation, he told me that there is nothing I could say or send in that would make a bit of difference. The wonderful letter I used as a basis for my own (that Diana Cox posted)- and all the documentation - will not matter. My low BMR does not matter either. Although it's not fair, my BMI of 35.6 and the fact that my lap-band surgery was performed by Dr. Ortiz in Mexico are working against me. My Dr.'s record is 90 to 10 when it comes to winning on external review; in my case, he estimates the odds are only 50/50. I am totally bummed out. Thanks for all your support, whichever way this goes...

Well, damn! I hate insurance companies! Sounds like a next approach might be Dr Ungson in Mex or Dr Marchesini in Brazil.

I so sorry. :(

Thanks.  I do have a back up plan:  Dr. Gagner in Canada. But two things: 1) it will cost SO much and a new loan payment will be tough 2) he doesn't really provide any follow up care.  2 nites in hospital - that's it.  I've heard that he's the best, does it lap, but doesn't have much in the way of bedside manner. :-(
I've been in touch with both Dr. Ungson and Dr Marchesini...but probably would do it open, which I would not prefer.  Also Canada is a lot closer to upstate NY than Brazil or Mexico.

Read this post before going the lap route: www.obesityhelp.com/forums/ds/4483266/Terrys-Post-Gave-me-th e-Courage-to-Post/

Diana over on the other board even said revisions should never be done lap and this was why...I would link it but can't.

I just read it! Unbelievable scary. Thank God Nanette made it through! We New Yorkers are a tough bunch.
As far as I know, lap is the primary way Dr. Gagner and Dr. Roslin do it.  I have a tendency towards adhesions, which is why I try to avoid surgery altogether. Unless a very skilled surgeon is involved, I wouldn't even consider it done lap...but, still, reading this experience sure does give one a lot to think about. :-(

It's not. Proboard sucks.
