I just want to encourage you all to be your own health advocate. If you have a superior health care team looking out for you, fine. But, still be on your toes. Know what they're telling you and why. Don't be blinded by the white lab coats.

If your "team" hasn't changed their approach to post WLS management in 20 years, you're probably on your own. Do your research, see what more progressive practices are doing and how they are treating their patients. Don't be afraid to ask questions here, either privately or on the board.  If the only guidelines you're getting is take 2 Flintstones and TUMS, please check out the links below.

Hi Gina!

I took a look again at the RNY list, and I'm taking close to everything, not just at the times she indicates.  And yes, its NOT by my Dr's orders either.  If I was, all I'd be taking is a multi 2X a day, B12 sublingual and B complex.

Now - I went to Walmart yesterday and was looking at the vitamins.  I saw NEW citracel chewies.  I know someone asked about them awhile ago.  I took a look at the packing.  All it said for the calcium was "elemental".  I compared it to the back of the bottled pills Citracel and it also said elemental - BUT, the difference was, NO WHERE on the package (chewies) did it say Citrate.  Not even in the ingredients list, but did on the pills.

So I didnt buy them.  It didn't say carbonate either, so I'm confused as to what kind of calcium it actually is.

Any ideas?

The calcium is in the form of tricalcium phosphate, not sure how well its absorbed by wls folks.

Thanks Gina,

Being a Type 1 diabetic for 30 years, I have learned that I sometimes know more than the Dr.s and have been apalled at what I have been advised. Now, with my WLS, same thing. I have learned more from OH than my surgeon on many things. Glad we have this support system available. I do feel sorry for many that dont have this support.
Thanks again.

I think my NUT was right on when it came to a lot of things but they are about 1 1/2 hours away so the LW's are my Support and my GO TO buddies!!

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!
