Still struggling with diet progression! HELP!!!
I should be on pureed/soft foods by now. I know I had some other issues and complications, but I am still onty tolerating clear liquids. All of my protein, and meds get infused through the g-tube along with most of my fluids to keep me from becoming dehydrated. I've tried a couple of things on the full liquid list and everything made me so nauseous, Thank goodness for zofran. I'm still having trouble getting enough clear liquids in a day without being sick. I am still using the small 1 ounce cups from the hospital and I set my alarm to go off every 15 minutes, but most of the time when my alarm goes off, I'm still so full from the last ounce that I can't tolerate any more. I am getting so frustrated!!!!
I can't eat/drink anything cold so my SF popsicles don't work. I have never tolerated soup/broth very well and that hasn't changed since surgery. Any ideas? Did anyone else have trouble progressing through the food stages? Oh and my drs don't seem to be worried because I can infuse through the feeding tube, but the feeding tube isn't supposed to be permanent.

Try some variety of clears first and then progress to a variety of temps for your clears. You're just going to have to take it slower. I know it's the pits. I'm sorry.
Try some herbal tea with ginger or peppermint. Ginger is suppose to help with nausea. Are you also on antacids?

I was on antacids in the hospital but I wasn't sent home with any. I was just telling my DH this morning that I've been getting this burning feeling in my pouch area and a awful acidy taste in the back of my throat fist thing in the morning until I drink something.
I've got to call my surgeon on Monday because my feeding tube is getting infected, so I'll ask him about the antacids then.
I sympathise with you on the progression issue - I am having issues with soft foods right now and I am exactly one month out from surgery as of today. I have to believe this will get better and everyone I've talked to that's had this surgery says it will. My surgeon says the same thing - he says he's content with me on liquids and supplements for as long as six to eight months if I have to. SIGH. I can't imagine that long without chewing.
Swinging those critters for you...let's hang in there together!

I feel for you! I stayed in liquids close to one month but progressed slowly from there. I sometimes read what others on OH are able to eat (frozen pizza!!!!) and am envious and baffled at the same time! lol.
Ramen broth (no noodles) really saved me those first few weeks....just 2-3 oz at a time but it tastes good and was nice and warm.
Thinking of you! It WILL get better!!

Oh man, I am so sorry you are having to go through this. I know exactly how you are feeling. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I am 3 months out and still struggle with food and drinks. I had a good week a while back, but that didn't last long. The nausea is still with me, but I can take about 4 ounces of fluid without it coming back up. Unfortunately, zofran didn't work for me.
At this point, just do what you can, don't try to ru**** and be thankful to have the infusions so you don't get dehydrated.
Sending hugs your way!

I lived off isopure at first..grape and fruit punch, loved it because it wasn't "heavy" like the unflavored unjury...I didn't have much nausea but I did have trouble eating at first..I think it took three to four weeks for me to tolerate the pureed items..I would definately be trying to get in some liquid protein just gotta figure out how that will work for you..lots of trial and error probably..
