Our investments were doing really well, we sold everything we owned, retired at ages 38 and 44 and bought a motorhome.
We travelled in Mexico for 14 mos. Lived in Belize for 14 months while we set up our residency, decided we liked one of the islands here, finished our travels in Mexico, drove the motorhome back to Canada, sold it along with anything else we had with it...
Then we hopped on a bus and went to Guatemala for 5 months, before coming to Caye Caulker and settling here.
Our investments tanked and we are working again in Real Estate and love our island paradise. We live in a tiny cabana on the beach, that looks out to the Belize Barrier Reef (2nd longest reef in the world) which is only 1 mile off shore.
We realize we are incredibly lucky, we love each other, I am married to my very best friend Barry, I have two tiny little Yorkies Tiki & Sadi, and Caye Caulker is stunningly beautiful. Sandy streets, no cars, swaying palms, every color of blue and green out in the caribbean... truly paradise... AND now I can enjoy it all SKINNY!!! Yeehaw!! I go for 3-4 mile walks every day... do you blame me?
Sorry for rambling!

Hello everyone! My name is Cindy. Im 42 yrs old. Living in PA. Married...will be celebrating our 20th anniversary in Sept. We have 2 kids.... my son is 18, he graduates high school tomorrow, then will be going to college in the fall for criminal justice. My daughter is 16. Im a stay at home Mom who has been thnking about getting back into the working world now that the kids are grown. I had RNY in March. It was a looooong road getting there (17 months) ...... insurance Co denied multiple times but thanks to the wonderful people here on the LW board I kept fighting and won. Im now down 70 lbs, still have a ways to go but will get there. I love reading everyone's story!! Cindy
Cool idea--its a pleasure to meet all of you!!
Hi!
I had RNY on 11/24/09. I'm 5'5" and 155 lbs as of today. I'm wearing a size 6 pants and a small or medium top. RNY or lap band were my only choices. My WLS has been the best thing that I have ever done for myself. My recovery, up to this point, has been text book perfect and my 6 mth labs were awesome. My vitamin ritual is very strict and has become one of the best habits I've developed since prior to surgery.
I ran my first 5k on 5.29 and came in 2nd in my age division. My mom cried when I crossed the finish line. It was an exhilarating experience and I now have race fever.
I am a full time graduate student and I work full time in health care. I dumped my BF last fall because he did not support WLS and told me that I had not tried hard enough. I have a new BF who totally supports my new lifestyle and who is encouraging me to go to law school once I finish my MBA---this is something I've always longed to do.
My transfer addiction is shopping for pants at Salvation Army.
I struggle with the carb monster and have to write down everything I eat daily. I cannot have crackers or pretzels in the house due to grazing.

Morning Gina-
Good to see so many posters. I just started my 8 week summer vacation so maybe I'll be posting more and joining in on the "Good Morning" posts that I was supposed to be participating in when I got my Netbook at Christmas. I think that was how it all started. lol. I think one of your first posts was "Hey where's Julie...she promised she'd be up at 4am?"
So that's me...I'm Julie. I'm 43 years old. Been married for 23 years in August. I have one step-SON and a beautiful daughter in law (no grandkids yet). I am a middle school secretary and I love what I do but I am so excited for summer vacation. I've never needed it more than I do this year.
I had lap RNY and will celebrate my TWO year surgiversary next week. I have lost and maintained an 85ish lb loss. I have still not made my docs goal of 100 lbs. But I am a work in progress and I see goal in my plan for the summer. I know I am preaching to the choir here, but please, please remember how we all got here. Our surgeries and new found "healthy" habits work. They really, really do!!! But it is so easy to get back into the bad habits and every time we stumble its harder to get back up. I've really thought a lot about this lately. I've always been an "everything in moderation" kind of girl. But I'm thinking I may have to accept that just isn't going to work for me anymore. I have an "addiction" to food, especially CARBS
!!! Now common sense tells me if I suffered from a disease like alcoholism I wouldn't say "alcohol in moderation" is okay. I am learning my food triggers and I am accepting that OBESITY is a disease and although I many never be "cured" I can put it into REMISSION by doing all the right things and live a very healthy, satisfied life. So...for all the times I've read Michelle's (VITALADY) posts about her 3 short lived affairs and ugly break-ups with sugar, I finally get it. I have had to learn it the hard way, but I get the point loud and clear. So I guess what I'm saying is...we have rules and we follow them because they WORK. Remember if it ain't broke don't fix it. Trust me if you play with fire, you WILL get burned.
Now will somebody pass me the ALOE VERA already???
These burns kind of smart!!!!
Love me some LIGHTWEIGHTS!!!!!
