Good Morning. Introduce yourselves LWs!
First, I want to say thank you for working with the vets at the VA.
Second, you gotta drink and get that protein in. Even if you can't do shakes, you gotta drink to keep some of that nausea at bay. Can you tolerate deviled eggs or egg salad?

Gina thanks for the response....I guess I was waving a white flag!!! LOL
I am getting 90-100 oz fluid a day, so that's o.k.
I tolerate eggs, cheese, chili, ground beef, ground chicken, lunch meats. I just get so very tired of them, it seems I need a LOT of variety. I know I have to rely on drinking my protein becasue I really can't get enough protein in by eating, and even if I could I don't usually even want to eat. I can be o.k. and then the thought of drinking protein makes me nauseated...maybe I'm strange. Not sure why I am having so much trouble, but trying to plod along. Thanks for trying to help, and I stay open to suggestion.
HUGS, Jane

Hi everyone,
I'm Linda and I live in South Georgia. It is really hot here now. I work at the library. Hoping to retire in 4 years.
I started out wanting lapband, but after 2 surgery consults changed to lap RNY. I had surgery 8/3/09. I have lost 92 pounds as of this morning(14.5 pre op). No diabetes medicine since the day before surgery. CPAP has been turned as far down as it will go(I'm addicted and having trouble giving it up). I feel better than I have in years and am doing so much more.
I have been married for 32 years to my DH. He is truly one good guy. I have 2 grown children, boy & girl. Both married and I have 2 granddaughters born within a week of each other. Both live close by so we get to spoil them all the time.
I love to read when I can find the time. OH is probably my transfer addiction!! I love it and is my only support since my surgeon is 4 hours away.

My name is Raynetta, I am married to a great husband for 10 years now, unfortunately we do not have children. I went thru three miscarriages and 8 surgeries in less than 5 years and now cannot have children. Gaining alot of weight, some to do with lots of fertility drugs any way, I also took 11 prescriptions a day and was very unhealthy. My blood pressure was so high even on all my medications they told me they couldn't do anything for me but I needed gastric so basically 2 weeks later I had the surgery. Which was 5/12/2008. I have lost about 97 lbs. I haven't had any real issues. I do struggle everyday with food and keeping the weight off. My only fear was that I would put all the weight back on like all the other times.
Thanks Gina for this great idea.

My name is Linda, I live in northern Macomb, Michigan - about 1 hour north of Detroit. I have been married for 14 years (2nd marriage) and we have 4 kids, all still living at home - ages 23, 20, 19 and 13. Plus one dog and 3 cats!
I had my surgery on 02/09/2010 and am down 43 pounds. I just got out of a 4-week stall where I didn't lose any weight at all. That was tough! But now the scale is slowly moving downward again, so I am happy.
I am a medical transcriptionist and I work from home. I read a lot, walk with my family and/or dog, do a Pilates class twice a week and just chill with my family. I love love summer and sitting on my front porch.
I chose RNY because it was the gold standard of weight loss surgery. I am happy with my decision, even though I have been slow to lose, but I know that this tool will allow me to be successful. I now weigh 177 pounds and my goal is 145. Still, I am happy right now because I feel so much better and I think I look better, and the best is yet to come!
I really do appreciate the invaluable advice and support that is shared on this forum!
Great Post Gina!
Hi, I'm Rosalind. I'm one of the oldest, but not the wises on this board at the age of 57. My hubby of 36 years calls me Rozbaby so that's where Roz comes from. We have 3 grown daughters, 2 wonderful sons-in-laws, 3 granddaughters, and we finally got a boy (grandson) who is 2. They all live within 10 minutes of us and we are a very close family.
I am an obsessed All-Star Cheer "Coaches" Mom. My daughter coaches over 300 cheerleaders making up 13 teams She Coaches every single girl and every single team. They compete all over the US and my Hubby and I travel with them. Other than our love for Our Lord and our family, it consumes our lives.
I've struggled with my weight since I was in my 20's. I had RNY 20 months ago. I didn't have any medical problems but my BMI was high enough for surgery. The RNY was the best choice for me because I love sweets. I thank God every day because my tool is still working and although I can eat a very small piece of cake or a piece of candy now, I can't eat the whole cake or bag of candy. I used to sneak and eat banana flips and now I don't have any desire for one because all of that cream would put me out of commission for the rest of the day.
I reached goal at about a year losing 94 lbs. I'm been mainting since then with really no issues. I bounce between 108 and 111 but 109 is my "magical" number. My low was 106 but I don't claim those extra pounds because it didn't stay more than a few days.
I swear by Protein drinks. I try not to push to hard because I know some don't believe in them, but when you are excited about something working, it's hard not to share it.
I also start our LW Menus and Miles Post. Please join us if you haven't yet. I truly believe that planned menus and accountability are key factors in being successful
Good Luck With Your Journeys!!!!

Have you read up on the DS on www.dsfacts.com? It also lists surgeons who are well vetted DS surgeons. Beware bait and don't switch surgeons and watch out for the scare tactics if you ask questions about it. Good luck!

Hi, my name is Julie and I live in northern California. I had lap rny a year ago tomorrow! I have no regrets and have had zero complications--I have dumped a few times--thank god the tool works! I have lost 87 pounds and have never been this weight or size in my life--I have been overweight since my tonsils were removed at five years old---I am now 44. I am doing so many more things now, and learned how to ski this past winter--love it!! I ride a Harly 1200 sportster for the past three years and love it!! I have one son and two grandsons--as a matter of fact I will be picking my boy and his family up at the airport this friday--tomorrow--which is my surgiversary!!!! what a way to celibrate--they are flying in from Tx and spending a week with me.
I lurk often and you all have provided me with so much information that I feel that I know many of you and have such respect and admiration and send out my kuddos to you all--as well as many thanks! I also would have considered the DS if I had known about it, but, I love my RNY! I hope to be more active on the LW board in the next few weeks....but until then thank you all sooooo much for all you provide to oh members and expecially the lurkers!!
