I might be wrong but for the past 5 years I have always been told that shakes 'go bad'  about 30-45 mins after you mix them up.  They lose their 'strength' and the protein starts to break down and really do you no good.
This is why I keep RTD in the fridge and mix for other times.

It's all been word of mouth but from people that should know.  Everyone at my WLS's office. Doc, Staff, Office mananger ( one had RNY one had DS) two different WLS support groups I went to (one in Dayton, Ohio one in Cincinnati, Ohio),  workers at GNC where I but the powderd mix.
To me some foods/drinks are not ment to be mixed up and then used at a later date. You are to mix and use right away.    It's also just like what can you eat after WLS  just because you CAN eat a BIG MAC doesn't mean you SHOULD a Big Mac.

I haven't had a protein shake in months.  I need to order more protein.  I like Unjury protein.  I think I tend to drink those in the summer.  Smoothies too.  Maybe I will start.

Clueless about weight loss and weight loss surgery of any kind.

My surgeon told me not to drink shakes anymore but that doesn't mean that I can't mix the protein powder into other things and use it that way. I seriously doubt that the protein somehow leaches out that quickly...protein isn't that degradeable but I'll do some research on that myself.

It was taking me an hour to sip a protein powder shakes early out...I'm skeptical to say the least.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

I think this makes total sense and a fantastic idea.  I have chopped celery in the fridge and SF pickles in the fridge for the same reason... low calorie and cruncy which is what am usually looking for.

I agree completely! it can't be bad at all...I just doubt that it's losing something by being mixed for longer than an hour or so. The research so far says...NO protein break down so long as it doesn't contain creatin and isn't mixed with fruit juice...Still looking.
