Since you can't shoot her, I'd go to the lunch, and enjoy every bite. Chat with friends, and treat it as a party with the ones you DO like!

I too think you should go.  Have a big smaile on your face.  No one needs to know why.  And do remember.  You are the one that pointed out that not everyone in the firm knows what a B she is/was.  You have to work with the rest of them for more years.  So don't make it look like you are the B.

Go to lunch, sit with your friends, and be blissfully unaware of the beeyotch.  Nothing takes the wind out of a *****y person's sails like being ignored when they're trying to shoot you the evil eye.  I know this from having been on both sides of that *****y fence.

Sign the card with some sweet and sappy remark, and make sure you hug her good-bye.

Then go have a margarita.

I'm with those that would definitely go....

Me?  I'd get a little mini broom from a craft store and stick it in a card saying, "Hope your new job can afford you a better ride! (then put a photo of  high end vacuum cleaners!  LOL  Just kidding of course!)  I'm not about being the better person, I guess.  I'm too honest for my own good most often...I rarely pretend to be a "better" person b ecause I never really was sure what "better" meant...I enjoy/prefer saying EXACTLY how I feel...but that doesn't always make me the most popular in these kinda situations...Then again, I don't gives a poo!  She's just so jealous of you is all, you know that right?

But...we can't all be this way, I suppose...Someone has to be an adult (just not me!)  You seem like a respectable, kind and loving and forgiving person  (my opposite, but I fully respect people who can be this way) ...and either way I think you should go and show your happy smiling face and go ahead and sign the card and if she is one that saves stuff like that...she'll have you in her heart forever!  LOL ...and secretly celebrate the reason you are there...BECAUSE THE B*TCH IS LEAVING!  Me? I'd laugh the loudest...smile the most and really make it a HAPPY time!

Yes, my other car is a broom!

Thanks for all your replies. I put $5.00 in her card this morning. I'm going to the lunch and I'll sit there and grin like a jacka$$ the whole time because I truly have something to celebrate. :)

THAT is the spirit.  Celebrate the occasion because it is a DAMN good occasion!!

I would have so much fun...................but then, I am not nearly as nice as you are.

I'd say go...because it makes you look like a team player, and that the issue is the B*......and not you. It never hurts to look like a professional, even when you've been in a job 20 plus years.

OMG! I think there are witches in every office!  I work with all nurses and have been in this field for 25 years and all I can say is "Damn, these are tough women!!!"  I'd go, sit and grin like a cheshire cat,  be very cordial and know in your heart that the hurricane is blowing into someone else's town!
